The Salmon’s Tale

The Salmon’s Tale is my first book for children and was self-published in December 2017.

It tells the story of the Salmon, as experienced by a child visiting their old Grandfather. Grandfather tells the child about the Salmon, how they live and reproduce and what is happening to them in the world today.

Purchase: The Salmon’s Tale is available for purchase as a digital book, via the link beneath the cover photo. The book costs £10 in pdf format. [Note: when I receive your PayPal I will send a copy of the book in pdf format to the email address supplied].

As they stood in the clearing before the small house, a child looked up and said
— “What’s that, grandfather?”

The old man looked up, and replied, “Why, that’s the full Moon in Taurus!”

— “The Full Moon in Taurus?” repeated the child.
— “Yes, Taurus the Bull” replied the Grandfather.
— “I don’t see any Bull” replied the child.
— “Well, I can see one,” he said softly.

The old man stretched out his hand, drawing in the sky a magnificent Bull, which leapt out of the deep blue night towards them. The child saw it and the old man replied:

— “There are twelve of these wonderful figures in the sky and as the year turns, the sun progresses on his great journey through each of them.”

— “At this time of year — the older folk call Samhain, which is pronounced ‘sow-win’, the Moon is in Mighty Taurus, whilst the Sun resides in the sign of the Scorpion.”
— “It is a powerful time indeed,” said the old man. And as he stared into the sky he whispered
— “This is a time you can make a wish for anything you desire !”
— “ Anything at all, Grandfather?”
— “Yes,” said the old man, “as long as it is for the greatest and highest good, you may wish for anything at all, anything that your heart desires…”
— “Oh, I like that,” said the child, “but how will I know if what I wish for, is for the greatest and highest good, Grandfather?”

The old man looked at his grandchild and tenderly replied.
— “Ask your heart. Your heart will know, child.” And as they stood side by side in the cold night of the Taurus Full Moon, the child said “I like that too!“

And so they went inside, filled with the beauty of the evening of the Full Moon in Taurus, and the old Man stoked up the wood-burner, and asked the child
— “So, my child, what shall be your wish ?”

The child put head in hands, and looked deep into the flames. Their cat jumped up onto a welcoming lap, and with that, the child exclaimed…

— “Oh, I know, I know, I know! I KNOW what I will wish for…”
— “Tell me !” said Grandfather, smiling…

AND SO BEGINS THE SALMON’S TALE…
